Codes of conduct

Gymnasts

When participating gymnastics, I will:

-        Always try my best and work hard

-        Respect all coaches and other gymnasts

-        Follow the rules laid out by my coach

-        Encourage others and show good sportsmanship

-        Listen to what my coach tells me

-        Follow my coaches instructions

-        Talk to someone I trust if I am unhappy with anything at my club

 

I understand that if I do not follow the code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club. I may:

-        Be required to apologise to another gymnast

-        Receive a formal warning from the coach or the club committee

-        Be suspended from the club

-        Be required to leave the club

-        My club may make my parent/guardian aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct

Spectators, parents and guardians

We all bear a collective responsibility to set a good example and help provide a positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy the game.

I will:

-        Remember that children participate for fun

-        Encourage effort and sportsmanship as well as success

-        Remain in the spectator area unless your child is in a parent and child session

-        Encourage gymnasts to listen to coaches and try their best

-        Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour

-        Pick up my child from the agreed collection point on time at the end of the session, and will alert the club if I am running late

-        Wave to or alert the coach dismissing my child when collecting at the end of the session

 

I understand that if I do not follow the code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club. I may:

-        Be issued with a verbal warning from the club

-        Be required to meet with the club welfare officer

-        Be required to leave the venue by the club

-        Be requested by the club to not attend future sessions

-        Be required to leave the club along with any dependents

Coaches and club officials

We all bear a collective responsibility to set a good example and help provide a positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy the game.

I will:

-        Use my position to set a positive example for the people I am responsible for

-        Show respect to others involved in the sport including other coaches, parents/guardians, spectators and gymnasts

-        Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour

-        Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each gymnast above everything

-        Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying

-        Ensure all activities I plan and lead are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age and maturity

-        Co-operate fully with others in gymnastics (coaches, participants, spectators, welfare officers) for each player’s best interests

-        Demonstrate positivity regarding language, tone of voice, facial expression, body language and attitude and enthusiasm

-        Engage the children in the session with a planned out, interesting, progressive and fun activity

-        Ensure equipment is set up and packed away safely, and will check equipment is secure before use

I understand that if I do not follow the code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club. I may be:

-        Required to meet with the head coach and club welfare officer

-        Suspended by the club

-        Required to leave or be dismissed by the club
